A message from the editor-in-chief

Welcome to The Brighton Bugle.

This site has been founded to create a place where fellow NCTJ trainee reporters can rant, vent and occasionally inspire.

A not-for-profit, hybrid mix of traditional newspaper and online magazine, The Brighton Bugle aims to plug a yawning gap in the Brighton media landscape.

All of our reporters are either already NCTJ-accredited or are currently enrolled at Brighton Journalist Works for the NCTJ Diploma in Journalism. We hope that this shared benchmark criterion will help us maintain a high standard of content across The Brighton Bugle.

Although the name might suggest otherwise, The Brighton Bugle is not constrained by geographical borders and, as such, will report on global issues as well as local, thus reflecting the more cosmopolitan nature of its writers and readers.

The online world is not limited to the local and neither are we. Here, you are as likely to find an article about international film, fashion, sport or technology, as you are a satirical critique of the Brighton & Hove city council.

Put simply, check in at any time and The Brighton Bugle will (hopefully) be here trumpeting something... about anything.

Don’t quote me on that though.

Jian Farhoumand - Editor-in-chief.
